Overview
Sikhism was founded in India by Guru Nanak, the first of ten gurus. Sikhism is relatively new compared to other major religions and is monotheistic. It is based on the teaching the ten gurus and the book of all their teachings called Guru Granth Sahib. They also believe in reincarnation and their main goal is to become one with God. There are some things things that will keep them from achieving that. They are known as the 5 thieves. They are:
1. Lust
2. Greed
3. Anger
4. Pride
5. Attachment to material things
However, if Sikhs ignore these things and have good karma than they will have a better time in their next life until they eventually have total knowledge of God. Sikhs are not allowed to just focus on themselves and their religion. They also have to live a honest life with a job and give to people less fortunate them themselves. Sikhs have the saying of "Pray, Work, and Give."

Cosmogony
Sikhs believe that One Supreme Being or God created the universe from nothing. Before the earth, there was nothing and God was everywhere. Then when God desired it, he willed the world into existence. However, unlike Abrahamic religions Sikhs don't believe that the world was brought into existence all at once. Instead, they believe that God willed evolution into beginning. Many Sikhs believe in evolution and the big bang. Because of a verse in the Guru Granth Sahib, Sikhs believe in a three stage evolution. First came gasses and the universe was all gas. Then came liquids and finally solids. Humans were created by sound, kavoa, when God called into creation humans and different forms of energy.
